About the job

The CEO of the Americas has a bold vision to transform the robotics industry across the region by rallying the AMER team around a mission rooted in customer obsession—not just robotic functionality. At Hai Robotics, success begins with understanding our customers’ challenges and delivering innovative automation solutions that drive measurable impact.

We are seeking a Quality Engineer I to establish and run day-to-day quality operations at our newly launched robotics manufacturing site. This role owns three things: setting up the site quality system and keeping it running, closing the quality loop inside our MES, and executing inspection across the full production cycle from incoming material to shipped robots.

This is a builder role. Inspection standards, record templates, MES quality workflows and equipment management processes do not fully exist yet. The Quality Engineer defines them with the Quality Engineering team, deploys them on the floor, and then operates them. You will work daily with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Warehouse, IT/MES and China based HQ teams.

Hai Robotics operates in a fast-paced environment where we “Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History.” In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, build relationships with customers and industry partners, and help position Hai Robotics as a trusted leader in warehouse automation innovation.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of hands-on quality experience in electromechanical or electronics manufacturing, has personally worked inside an MES or QMS as a user and ideally as a configurer, and is comfortable turning a messy new line into a documented, measurable process.

You will join a world-class team in an environment that combines the energy of a start-up with the scale and ambition of a global robotics leader. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in expanding Hai Robotics’ market presence in the United States and globally, working alongside passionate professionals who believe that innovation, partnership, and exceptional service are key to customer success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Site Quality System: build it and run it

  • Establish the site inspection framework covering IQC, IPQC and final inspection: inspection plans, sampling rules, acceptance criteria, record templates and escalation paths.
  • Own the NCR process end to end: identify, document, contain, disposition and close non-conforming material, sub-assemblies and finished robots.
  • Operate the CAPA process at site level: open actions, track owners and due dates, verify effectiveness, close.
  • Set up and maintain measurement equipment management: calibration schedule, daily checks, routine maintenance and records for calipers, micrometers, multimeters, gauges, torque tools and functional test fixtures.
  • Maintain controlled quality documents (SOPs, work instructions, inspection standards, control plans) and drive revisions as the product and process mature.
  • Prepare the site for ISO 9001 alignment and support internal and external audits.
MES Quality Closed Loop
  • Define how quality data is captured in MES at each production step: inspection results, defect codes, rework, re inspection and release status.
  • Ensure every inspection and test step is recorded in MES with full traceability from part and serial number to operator, station, result and disposition.
  • Build and maintain the defect code library and NCR / rework routing inside MES so that a defect found on the floor flows to containment, rework, re inspection and closure without leaving the system.
  • Work with IT, HQ MES team and Manufacturing Engineering to configure quality checkpoints, hold points and release gates in the MES routing.
  • Audit MES quality data for completeness and accuracy; chase missing or incorrect records back to the source.
  • Pull data from MES to produce weekly and monthly quality reports: FPY by station, defect Pareto, rework rate, open NCR / CAPA aging, calibration status.
Production Cycle Inspection
  • Perform and lead incoming inspection of mechanical, electrical and electronic components against drawings, specifications and inspection SOPs.
  • Execute in process inspection across the build cycle: sub assembly, harness and connector work, motor and drive assembly, sensor installation, mechanical assembly, calibration and functional test.
  • Perform final inspection and release verification of finished robots, including appearance, mechanical structure, wiring, functionality and workmanship.
  • Re inspect reworked, repaired, quarantined or previously rejected items and confirm the fix actually resolved the issue before release.
  • Act as the quality gate at defined hold points; hold product with data when it does not meet standard.
  • Support root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D) on production and supplier issues, and feed confirmed root causes back into inspection standards and MES checkpoints, so the same defect is caught earlier next time.

General

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives on product quality and process stability.
  • Perform additional quality related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology or a related technical field; or an associate degree with equivalent hands-on manufacturing quality experience.
Required Experience
  • 1–3 years of quality, manufacturing, inspection or testing experience in electromechanical, electronics, automation, robotics or similar manufacturing.
  • Hands on experience as a user of an MES, QMS or ERP quality module; experience configuring routings, defect codes or inspection steps is a strong plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, inspection standards and SOPs.
  • Experience with inspection and measurement equipment: calipers, micrometers, multimeters, gauges, torque tools.
  • Working knowledge of NCR, CAPA and root cause tools (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D).
  • Solid Excel skills for quality reporting; able to build Pareto charts, trend tables and simple dashboards from exported data.
  • Strong attention to detail, clear written documentation and the ability to communicate findings across functions.

Preferred

  • Experience inspecting or testing robots, AMRs/AGVs, automation equipment or comparable integrated electromechanical systems; familiarity with harness and connector defects, motor and drive faults, sensor calibration drift and assembly induced issues.
  • Experience helping launch a new line, new site or NPI, where standards and templates had to be created from scratch.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or a similar quality management system.
  • Exposure to SPC, control plans, PFMEA or MSA.
  • Basic ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Professional working proficiency in Mandarin and English is a strong plus, as this role collaborates with China based engineering, MES and supplier teams and works with bilingual documentation.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States/Canada and must provide proof of eligibility upon hire in accordance with federal regulations.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical warehouse activities as needed.
  • This job description does not create a contract of employment, nor does it alter the at-will nature of employment. The company reserves the right to modify, interpret, or apply this job description.
  • Hai Robotics U.S.A. Inc provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, or veteran status in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
